Mindset Matters
The Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck (2006) popularized the idea of mindsets by contrasting different beliefs about where our abilities come from. There are two types of mindsets. There is the fixed mindset and then there is the growth mindset. In everything we do our mindset matters and effects everything that we do in our daily lives. Our reaction to situations and how we respond in the daily world are effected by our fixed or growth mindset. The fixed mindset holds to the idea that our abilities are fixed traits and we can't succeed beyond these fixed traits such as intelligence and talent. The growth mindset simply believes holds to the idea that even the most simple abilities can be developed and improved, which creates someone who has a fixed mindset might refer to someone as a natural athlete.
